Welcome to our 2 acre farm in South County leitrim

Hello there, Welcome to Mucky Jeans. Why Mucky jeans? well, when I first moved here nearly 4 years ago I found it really hard to keep my jeans clean and constantly had mucky jeans, dirty shoes and had a hard time keeping chickens and a goat out of the house. Now that we are in the depths of winter, I  constantly have coal soot under my finger nails. We've managed to keep the animals at bay  (for now). I also now have my 'around the house work clothes' and my 'leaving the house clothes'.

On our small farm  we keep chickens, a goat, (occasionally Donkeys), 4 cats, a herb patch, 2 ponds and we're planting a new veg patch this year and hope to be keeping bees by the spring. Like any drastic change (ours being from the city to the country) things take along time and getting used to things and settling in take even longer. The reason I have started up this page, is not to give advice, but to let someone who is thinking of moving to the countryside have a glimpse into what it is like and follow us as we delve deeper in to a rural life and hopefully a more self-sufficient one. I will keep updating my links to all things that are to do with Art, Building, Permaculture, Farming and interesting things going on in leitrim. I will also post a useful recommended reading list.

I will also be using this page to promote a documentary I am working on about 'tback to the landers' and green movements in Ireland. So stay tuned  for update and footage from that!!

As well as tending to our land and home, we also organise live music and Dj nights in pubs around South leitrim. This is an old habit left over from our Dublin lives.

So thanks for finding us and I hope you enjoy reading this site.
